Finished Measurements: The sample shown measures 5 in/ 12.5 cm wide by 45 in/ 114.5 cm long after blocking.
Gauge: (Gauge is not critical in this project, but a different gauge will give a different size scarf.)Working gauge (before washing) = 18 sts and 30 rows/ 4in/ 10cm over scarf body stitch pattern with larger needles.
Final Gauge (after washing) = 21 sts and 26 rows/ 4 in/ 10cm. *Note that, in this yarn, the scarf will shrink in width and grow in length approx. 10% with washing. To get a 45 in/ 114.5 cm scarf I knit 40 1/2 in/ 103 cm long.*
What You Need: Provenance Fingering would work well for this pattern but a DK would work well also. A 45 in/ 114.5 cm scarf takes approx. 200 yds of DK or 400 yds of fingering.
1 pair of straight knitting needles in size required to obtain gauge. I used US #6/ 4mm. You may need needles a size or two larger or smaller.
Optional: one spare dpn in same size as above to use for grafting i- cord.
1 pair of dpns about 4 US sizes smaller than above. I used US #2/ 2.75mm.1 crochet hook approx. size D for provisional cast-on.
Approx. 1 yd/ 1m smooth scrap yarn for provisional CO.
Scrap yarn to use as stitch holder
Safety pin or locking stitch marker
Tapestry needle for grafting
