Triple Crowner Headband Pattern

My models for this design are both "Triple Crowners� hikers who have thru-hiked all three of America's long distance trails: The Appalachian Trail, The Pacific Crest Trail, and The Continental Divide Trail. That's a total of about 7,900 miles! Obviously a special handknit is in order, and this headband qualifies. It has a unique triple cable crossing that requires a bit of knitterly focus, and its handsome good looks work equally well for men and women - no matter how many miles they have hiked! This design is appropriate for an intermediate knitter with experience cabling. The headband is worked in the round on a circular needle, and the triple cable crossing is worked with two cable needles. The cable directions are both charted and given as a written version for those who prefer.
